“Thy Word is a lamp unto my feet and a light for my path”
Throughout my years the Scriptures have brought me encouragement and peace. There have been critical junctions in my life when I just was’nt sure where to go or what to do. The Bible has always helped me in those times. An audible “yes do it” or “don’t even think about it” from God would have been nice, yet it took more faith to believe and trust in what I did’nt hear or see. Our natural desire is to see it to believe it, or to research and study every decision prior to making it, to verify and solidify the likelihood of success rather than failure. Though making informed decisions are not bad, and there are some things that when seen we can actually comprehend fully, we should’nt allow those trains of thought to become our filter of faith. I think about the radical decisions that I have had to make in my own life. Should I change majors, move to a different state, uproot my family with no certainty of employment or security, will everything work out alright. As time passed and life settled down the decision to follow God was viewed by Him as obedience. Others would see it as risky or impetuous, but God always saw my actions as moving in faith. When I combined listening to God, reading the Bible, writing down visions and dreams, and sharing those dreams with fellow believers in Christ I became more resolute and determined to fulfill what God was asking me to do. He would open doors for employment, homes, and so many other blessings all because of my obedience. I had to take the steps, and commit to listen, process, and walk out His will. The amazing thing that I have found in this walk of faith is that God’s time table is not always in alignment with mine. Countless times I would get impulsive and try to force the timetables. I was convinced that it will happen because I did all the work that I needed to do to make God’s will happen in my life, instead of just resting and knowing that in His time all things will work out. I have worked with enough people to know that Gods timing is perfect. We force decisions and plan, plan, plan; we focus on working harder rather than more efficiently. The one thing I am sure of though is that faith is not so much about work but more about relationship. God’s infinite wisdom and knowledge of things is way beyond my comprehensions. The Apostle Paul in 1 Corinthian’s reaffirms this when he is addressing our wisdom in comparison with Gods. All I need is found in Christ, when I wake up in the morning and pull the car onto the highway I see the sunrise and am captivated by its beauty. In those moments I realize that I had nothing to do with it, morning came and it was created. All around the world people are seeing different perspective of creation but the message is the same, it all was created by God. I thank God for His faithfulness and my hearts cry and passion is to be quick to listen and slow to speak, to be a hearer and doer of God’s word. My desire is to truly live by faith and glorify the Lord.
